The first moment we took this grill out, we knew we'd be dealing with a great grill. Why? Because Weber, in some ways, invented modern grilling in 1952! Through the years, they kept updating their grills and innovating. The Weber Go-Anywhere Gas Grill is the redesigned version of the original Weber Go-Anywhere that used charcoal as fuel for cooking.
Weber Go-Anywhere Gas Grill Features
The charcoal version is still available for purchase for anyone that prefers the traditional flavor of steamed smoky meat. As with gas grills, because of their ceramic covering, the food is juicier. Gas grills are also better for you and the environment, quick to start and control, and more versatile (for example: besides meat, you can cook delicious vegetables on lower heat and without burning them). The Weber Go-Anywhere Gas Grill embodies this in a superbly designed product.
Weber Go-Anywhere stands up to its name - it is a lightweight, highly portable grill with durable construction coated with porcelain. You can easily carry it around and transform every outdoor adventure into a culinary paradise!
Weber Go-Anywhere Gas Grill: Setting up and design
To start, we latched the holding steel legs together and attached the propane and the gas valve on the right side of the grill. The last step was to press the push-button-ignition, and we were ready for grilling.
The 160 square inches of cooking surface
offers enough space to cook a meal, but we would not recommend cooking on it for large groups. The porcelain-enameled steel cooking grate did an excellent job, and we consider it one of the highlights of this grill. Another plus is the fact that this grill is easy to clean. Still, if you're cooking highly fatty foods on it, the grease can buildup in the pan. Weber advises you to wait for the grease to turn into a solid-state, and then use a plastic scraper to clean it out. (1
Another thing we considered while doing this grill review is flare-ups. These occurrences can be scary and dangerous. With Weber Go-Anywhere Gas Grill, there's no need to worry because the specially designed cooking grates eliminate flare-ups and allow for safe grilling. Weber surely did a great job on this.
The grill's power is 6,500 main burners
. It may not be the mightiest grill on the market, but considering you save on the cost of fuel, it might be one of the better choices to make. Also, there are two ways to adjust the flame (and the fuel usage): you can adjust the flow of propane by turning the top grill knob up or down, or you use the regulator body to control the propane output. All in all, the Weber Go-Anywhere Gas Grill is a highly portable grill with dimensions of 12.2 x 21 x 14.5 inches, that only weighs 13.5 pounds and is fully functional! Weber, you did a great job on the design this time.
Weber Go-Anywhere Gas Grill: Grilling and overall performance
The first thing you need to know before using this gas grill is not to start with a hot grate. Doing so might burn your food and leave grill marks on your cooking plate. You can avoid that because the Weber Go-Anywhere Gas Grill allows for cooking at low temperatures - therefore allowing smoke to make your food taste juicy.
Tip: Be careful if you use a spray-type oil for grilling since they can be easily flammable.
We noticed that the cooking grate does not spread the heat evenly - the center was much hotter than the edges, but again, this was not a problem. In our case, we managed to cook up to 6 hamburgers simultaneously because the cooking grate space only allowed that much. Still, the overall performance of the Weber Go-Anywhere Gas Grill is more than decent for a portable grill! Grilling with this model was a great experience!
Weber Go-Anywhere Gas Grill: Alternatives
We know that for many people, the word "grill" brings a rustic feeling: the majority would imagine a charcoal grill, with a large cooking area and heat all around. Since Weber was the first to invent modern grilling, they thought that some people would still enjoy the good-old charcoal grill and managed to build a product that left many people highly satisfied. Here, we are talking about the twin of the Weber Go-Anywhere Gas Grill. The Weber Go-Anywhere Charcoal grill stayed on top of its game for years (with a 5-star rating). The reason is the durability of the grill and its impressive design.
The cast iron body, the great cooking space, the good-sized coal bed, and grill space are what make this neatly packaged grill the top pick for charcoal grills. The Weber Go-Anywhere Charcoal Grill is a great product that will give you the ultimate grilling experience.
A word before you go
We hope that our Weber Go-Anywhere Gas Grill
review helped you learn about this grill more easily. To complete it, we researched what people had to say about this Weber grill and did our little experiments with it. Sure, there are pros and cons, but in the end, everything comes down to what you need and expect of the grill. For instance, some reviews claimed that the legs of the grill were not stable enough, but in our case, that didn't happen. Our experience with it was more than good, and we rate this Weber grill with 4.8 stars. All in all, this is a portable, durable, and extremely easy to use grill, and probably one of the best of Weber's grilling products.
